Prior to starting her journey in Chinese medicine Natalie completed a 4 year Bachelor of Sport and Physical Education (HONS) cum laude at Laurentian University. She then felt a desire to develop her healing skills and moved to British Columbia to embark upon her journey into TCM. At this time she was already a Reiki level 2 practitioner. Natalie completed her first two years of a 5 year Doctor of TCM program at the International College of TCM in Vancouver. She then transferred to Victoria where she completed the later 3 years at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Natalie is a Registered TCM Practitioner in Ontario with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO).

In 2009 Natalie had the opportunity and pleasure of going to China to do advance TCM studies and a hospital internship at the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Its affiliated hospital. While there she observed numerous cases at different stages of a disease and treatments, as the hospital had an inflow of 4000 outpatients per day, and 2000 inpatients. A large portion of the study revolved around the use of Chinese herbs. The hospital produced on average 10,000 prescriptions per day. In Chengdu she worked with modern medicine Doctors and Dr.s of TCM, and came to understand better how these practices compliment each other, and where one practice is stronger over the other.

Natalie strongly believes in TCM theories and in treating the mind, body and spirit together. Finding the root of each health concern and correcting it is an important part of alleviating branching symptoms. TCM can make sense of many complex diseases and discomforts, and often draws connections between symptoms, emotions and disorders.

During the pandemic, Natalie accessed a wonderful community of acupuncturists and TCM practitioners and was brought back to Qigong studies online. She wanted to deepen her practice in a more immersive way, and found White Tiger Qigong, which offered a blend of ancient traditional medical qigong exercises, with the understanding of them through a modern sports science framework. She travelled to Vietnam to study medical qigong in a 3 week intensive. With daily practice, she felt the connection between her energetic, physical, emotional and spiritual body and the changes to her overall health. She felt there were many tools in qigong that her Sudbury community could benefit from, and she looks forward to sharing these through Qigong workshops.

Natalie loves spending her free time with her husband, Steve, and children, Rosie, Sophia and Fraser. She is passionate about living an active life that adapts with the seasons. You can find her cross country skiing, skating, hiking, canoeing, and practicing qigong and yoga. She believes in balancing an external practice with an internal one of breath work and meditation. She is also energized by experiencing other cultures and landscapes through travelling the globe.

It is Natalie’s passion to share her knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine in the Greater Sudbury community and to help people on their healing journey.
